Free Tourist Insurance in Panamá

An added benefit for eligible travelers visiting Panamá.

The Government of Panamá offers complimentary tourist insurance to eligible international visitors arriving by air. The program provides certain medical and emergency assistance benefits during the first 10 days of a visit.

Who Is Eligible?

The program is available to eligible travelers under 86 years of age who enter Panamá legally through participating airports. Panamanian citizens who reside abroad may also qualify.

Coverage activates automatically when an eligible traveler receives their immigration entry stamp. No separate purchase or registration is required.

Travelers arriving by land or sea are not eligible.

What's Covered?

Depending on the policy terms, benefits may include:

  • Medical and hospital care for eligible accidents or unexpected illnesses

  • Emergency medical transportation and repatriation

  • Emergency dental assistance

  • Certain prescription medications

  • Legal assistance following theft or accidents

  • Assistance with lost or stolen travel documents

  • 24-hour multilingual assistance

Important Limitations

This complimentary program does not replace comprehensive travel insurance.

Pre-existing medical conditions are excluded. The program is limited to the first 10 days after arrival and does not provide the broader protection travelers may need for trip cancellation, travel delays, lost baggage, or other unexpected travel expenses.
